Why I Really Like Coldplay
Why a Set List is So Important
Our worship leader, Ryan, just sent us the set list for this Sunday…Easter!
It’s hymn centric and I love it! (we usually do at least a hymn or two every Sunday). And the reason for it is twofold:
- Hymns typically have great theology. And a lot of choruses today don’t. Now, I love a lot of new stuff, don’t get me wrong, but when entire set list is about how God makes me feel and less about the grandeur of our God…somethings wrong.
- We get a lot of people returning to the church. Their migrating back because of kids or whatever and when they connect with a familiar melody but rocked out a bit then that’s a win/win. They know the song and love the sound.
I cannot wait to worship the risen Christ with a couple billion people from around the world this Sunday. Doing what followers have done for thousands of years!

Paul Potts and Your Potential
I could watch this video (embedded below) everyday. In fact, I just might.
There is something in me that loves the underdog. I love it when someone emerges from out of nowhere and blows us out of the water. In fact, I feel like this is largely what I’m called to do: help develop, resource and encourage people to fulfill their potential.
The future of the Church, our church, every church, depends on people fulfilling their potential. Artists, teachers, administrators, managers, leaders…rise up and give God your potential! Risk rejection. Struggle through failure. Get back up!
We need your gift.
What would have been easier for Paul Potts? He’s not the youngest guy in the world. He sells cell phones and by is own admission he lacks self confidence.
Would have been easier to just stay home and watch Britain’s God Talent with rest of the world. I for one am glad he didn’t. I just bought his album.
